About Nerina Leatherworks
In the beginning, I wanted to make my own waxed canvas and leather backpack. Like the one my grandfather used to carry into the Alps when he went backpacking. It ended up looking like a Chinese pagoda! Very weird.
But I had the bug. One thing led to another and I began to develop a passion for crafting gorgeous women’s bags. But just like I had a specific era in mind when I attempted that backpack, I now wanted to emulate the timeless, refined, and nuanced gems of my grandmother’s era. Updated to reflect modern sensibilities but retaining a lasting appeal beyond transient fads and fashions.
I call them ‘functional works of art.’ As a dedicated craftsman, I take immense pride in producing bags that exemplify the pinnacle of quality and sophistication. This is what roots me in my work. A commitment to excellence which begins with a careful selection of leather sourced from only the finest tanneries, personally ensuring each hide meets the highest standards of texture, durability, and aesthetic appeal. Next, the hardware adorning my bags is exclusively solid brass or steel, procured from top-notch independent suppliers known for their superior craftsmanship. And to complete each piece, I use only the finest synthetic and linen threads, chosen for their strength and longevity.
